FAQs

  • What brands does Skywind service?
We service brands including, but not limited to: Aikira, Carrier, Daikin, Fuji Air, Fuji Electric, Fujitsu, General, Hitachi, LG, Mc Quay, Mitsubishi, National, Panasonic, Samsung, Sanyo, Sharp, Toshiba, York. Others
  • How are you different from your competitors?
Beside offering our customers a reliable and professional service, we also provide the following value added services free of charge for all aircon servicing jobs: (1) Check for excessive or abnormal noise generated by units. (2) Inspect fan belt and adjust tension where necessary (3)Check the operation of electrical components in control panels, clean electrical contacts. The additional effort and checks ensure that customers’ aircon systems are maintained at optimal condition.
  • Are there warranties on your services/ products?
For all services (except annual maintenance contract), the warranty is 90 days. For annual maintenance contract, the warranty is 365 days. Terms & conditions apply. Subject to change without prior notice.
  • How do I get the permit from HDB to install an air-conditioner?
Firstly, hand in your house’s floor plan to the installing company, who will then submit the floor plan along with the air-conditioner catalogue and application form to HDB. HDB will process the application and send you the permit letter shortly.
  • Why is my aircon leaking/ making noise/ no cold air?
For aircon leaking water, typically, water condenses on the inner fan coil and is drained through the drainage pipe. If the pipe is blocked, water is trapped, causing it to leak. For aircon noises, the blower or inner fan coil of the air-conditioner may be dirty, causing vibration noises. Other reasons may include loose or defective components. For aircon not blowing cold air, reasons include: dirty air filter/ blockage of inner unit/ defective components/ temperature set too high etc.
  • Why does my aircon have a bad smell/ switch on and off on its own/ have blinking lights?
Aircon bad smell may be due to environmental causes such as the smells of cigarettes that may have already been taken in by the unit. Such smells are released along with the airflow. It is best to consult our specialists when such situations happen. If aircon switches on and off on its own, it could be due to a defective electronic circuit board which operates the fancoil unit. When aircon has blinking lights, this is the air-conditioner’s signal to you that it is defective. It is best to consult our specialists for further assistance.
  • What is the optimal air-conditioner temperature to be set?
Generally, 25-26 °C is optimum. A mere 1°C increase can increase your operating costs by 15%.
  • How do I calculate the cooling capacity of an air-conditioner for a given area?
For a rough estimate, multiply the given area by 70. Cooling Capacity (BTU/Hr) = Area (Length in feet x Width in feet) x 70
